August 22, 2026 - Brain fog

Good news: treatment number three went much better. At least, that's my own interpretation for now, since I won't see my hematologist for another two weeks. Thankfully, the vomiting marathon never materialized this time, and as a result I felt considerably better.

Of course, it's still chemotherapy, so I'm still dealing with fatigue and a somewhat foggy head. To put it into perspective: I constantly feel as if someone has thrown a giant, freshly inflated hopper ball at my head.

My stomach remains irritated, so I've had to give up coffee and eat small portions throughout the day, even though my appetite is surprisingly strong.

On top of that, changes in taste are a strange experience. I used to enjoy Brussels sprouts with satay sauce, but these days the Brussels sprouts do nothing for me anymore. That leaves only the satay sauce.

And then there's the brain fog. That has definitely arrived as well. I even had to request a new PIN code because, while paying for a cup of tea at De Woeste Hoeve, I simply couldn't remember it.

On September 3rd, I'll be reporting back to the drug lab for another batch of mind-altering substances. Just before that, I'll receive my latest blood test results. If everything goes according to plan, my hemoglobin level will have improved and the unwanted cells in my bone marrow will have lost some ground.
